I've got a giant cast iron skillet that a family friend poured years ago, about 33" across, 3.5" deep, single pour spout, and zero handles or lugs. Edge thickness is all over the place (5/16" in spots, as thin as 3/16" in others).
Since it's going to live outdoors, pavilion stove or fire ring... I need a way to move it without busting the rim. Opposing handles bolted on the lip feel like a recipe for cracking, especially if this thing is just plain grey iron. I was thinking about making a frame or cradle for it to sit in so I can move the frame instead of the skillet itself.
Anyone here ever dealt with something this size? Would love input on whether a cradle/basket is the smartest route or if there's a safer way to attach grips without risking the iron.
