my brother just got his single burner forge set up, plus the 55 lb anvil, hammer, and tongs! He's ready to start swinging steel.
Everyone tells him to find a mentor, but because of his anxiety, he has to learn everything solo from home via trial and error and YouTube.
What are the must watch videos or channels for a total beginner to learn proper technique? He needs the best resources to teach himself good habits!

My bro's doing the same exact thing, set up shop in the garage and is teaching himself. For the basics, Black Bear Forge and Christ Centered Ironworks are great resources. Super clear, no BS, and great to help you build solid habits.

I started out like your brother solo, worried, and watching a ton of YouTube videos. Alec Steele got me into it, but Torbjörn Åhman and Blacksmith Skill taught me tricks people actually use. Their videos for newbies go over using a hammer right, controlling heat, and mistakes you should avoid. A great way to train your body without picking up bad habits.

boy, that is awesome! Tell him to watch Alec Steele's early how to videos. he breaks things down really well for beginners.
Also, the most important thing to learn solo is fire management. Lots of YouTube videos on getting that sweet neutral flame! it's important that someone can tutor him tho, or maybe just checking him out, just to be safe
