Keeping the heat steady during those marathon forging sessions can be quite the challenge, right?
We’ve all been there, trying to maintain that perfect temperature for hours on end.
What’s your go-to method for ensuring consistent heat?
Let’s swap some tips and tricks to keep those flames burning bright!

During those longer sessions, I make sure the forge stays clean and the airflow is steady. I prefer adding small amounts of fuel regularly instead of big loads it helps prevent any sudden temperature changes. It keeps the heat nice and even

Figured out that a steady air supply is essential.
I manage the air coming in and throw in small bits of fuel to keep everything on track.
It’s really about finding that balance, and a bit of patience goes a long way.

if you're using a coal forge, the Ring of Fire method is the best. keep your green coal damp on the outside of the pot.
it forces the gases to burn off slowly and turns it into high quality coke before it ever hits your workpiece. it makes maintaining that steady bright orange way easier over a long afternoon

To keep things efficient, I use firebricks to create a smaller firebox. This helps to concentrate the heat and use less fuel, which keeps the temp much more stable

I pay close attention to the fire's sounds. A low, steady rumble tells me everything’s running well, but if it starts whistling too much, I know I'm losing heat.
