need help on vintage trenton anvil serial number lookup

a friend gave me an old anvil. it was covered in multiple layers of thick paint finally got it cleaned up and turns out it's a Trenton anvil it got some weird numbers and a peculiar symbol on the base I don't know what they mean was hoping someone here might know one stamp says 150 so I'm guessing that's the weight also think the T mark means it was made by "Doggie" Taylor or something not sure though that's why I'm here let me know if anyone knows more about this thing appreciate any help

wow some friends really just give away an old anvil... that's a true bro right there. do you have any pics you can show so we can help take a look at it? you can check your library system for the AIA to check it and date it. just wanna ask... does it read trexton or trenton? because the former is for newer models i think.

Yes, 150 is indeed the weight, it means that it weights 150 lbs. Trenton anvils are very good historic tools. And the symbol you mentioned with the T is their logo, it's actually a diamond shape with letter T inside made by Columbus Forge & Iron Co. in Ohio. If you can post the whole serial number someone can tell the manufacturing year.

150 is indeed the weight, it's gotta be 150 lbs. just like @WackingTheSteel123 here mentioned. Trenton used a single number system which is actual weight not hundredweight like English anvils. Have you seen a serial number? It's usually on the front foot under the horn. All in all it would really help if you got pics to show.

Agreed about the weight, logo and that it's a Trenton made by Columbus Forge. If we had the serial number we could probably figure out when it was made

The "150" is almost definitely the weight in pounds. The odd numbers/symbols are usually batch or serial markings from the Columbus Forge & Iron Co. era. The T isn't a maker's mark from Doggie Taylor (good guess though, haha), it's just part of Trenton's stamp style.
