What to do with an old hydraulic rod?

I found an old hydraulic cylinder rod and I'm looking for ideas on what to do with it. It's eight feet long and two inches thick. It's in good shape with the chrome still on it. One end has an eye and the other end is threaded. I'm not sure what kind of steel it is but I would like to put it to good use instead of just getting rid of it. Would anyone know some good ways to repurpose an old hydraulic rod?

That's a fine piece of stock to hang onto. I've seen rods like that turned into post drivers, anvil stands or even forged into blades once the chrome's ground off. Are you planning to cut it down or keep the full length for something structural?
