After spending time at the anvil, you realize that not every swing hits the mark. There are moments when the hammer bounces oddly, a piece unexpectedly takes flight, or something happens that just cracks you up.

What’s the most hilarious thing that’s happened to you while forging? Share those lighthearted mishaps and surprises that turned into memorable tales

One time I missed the mark and the hot piece shot across the shop. Luckily it landed in a bucket of sand scared me at first, but I laughed after.

Had my hammer bounce off the anvil and smack the floor so loud the dog bolted out of the shop. Took me a minute to stop laughing.

I was forging a hook and it slipped right out of the tongs, flew a few feet, and stuck in a hay bale. Felt like a cartoon moment.

This reminds me of an old blacksmiths joke: " how do you know it's the Blacksmiths dog ? Give him a kick in the butt and he makes a bolt for the door."
