Do you do ring tests, use dye penetrant, or just eyeball it under some good lighting to spot cracks before your anvil breaks apart during a project?

Honestly, it all comes down to good lighting and a magnifying glass. I run my fingers over areas that look suspicious, checking for any bumps or separations. If I'm worried about a spot, I'll apply some penetrating oil to see if it seeps, it's a simple and effective technique.

About every few months, I give mine a light tap with a hammer and listen closely.
A solid anvil has a clear, musical ring, while a cracked one makes a dull thud.
