My old neighbor and smithing friend came by asking if I could help him get his forge set back up. He had shoulder surgery two years ago and hasn't really swung a hammer since. He's got an old brake drum forge and some coil springs he wants to mess with, but I told him he should probably start with mild steel. Just that for starters. Anyone here dealt with recovering from that kind of injury? What's the best way? Should he jump in light or push a little to rebuild strength?
