rust on galvanized steel

im new to this to dont mind me if the question is stupid but i want to ask can you rust galvanized steel? im still in the process of learning how things work but at a certain point id like to start galvanizing metal and im going to be my own customer so i want to know if this is possible or is it a good way to protect it

Lol its not a stupid question at all man, galvanized steel is designed not to rust since the zinc coating protects it, but if that layer gets scratched, worn down, or exposed to harsh conditions long enough, rust can still form. If you're trying to make it rust on purpose, you'd have to strip off the zinc first.

Galvanized steel can rust eventually, but the zinc coating protects it by corroding first, but if the coating gets damaged, the steel underneath can rust.

Agree with this one, @SmithBlack1. Most likely you'll take years and years before the galvanized steel rusts! Unless you do something to make it quick.
