Curious about small forging routines that can help? I like to set out all my tools and tongs the night before. It really saves me from scrambling around when the steel is hot. What’s a simple routine you follow that makes your sessions smoother?

Before firing up the forge, I do a quick lap around the shop. Half the time, I stumble upon a forgotten tool that saves me from scrambling later on.

My process involves laying out my hammers in the order I think I’ll need them, then totally changing plans. It still helps me get started smoothly, even if I end up improvising.

I always preheat my forge and get my materials ready before firing it up.
Trust me, scrambling for steel when things are hot is a major buzzkill.
