I learned this the hard way after ruining a blade that looked great just five minutes prior.
Turns out, the steel was oxidizing much too fast.
It’s a valuable lesson! Let’s exchange visual cues, heat management tips,
and shop practices to identify problems early and protect our creations before they start to flake.
 
Had something similar happen last month spent forever shaping a blade and then it started oxidizing as if it had a mind of its own. Quickly realized that keeping an eye on the color and maintaining steady heat can save a ton of hassle

colors, timing, and minor heat adjustments have become my go-tos in the shop.
