Technique to make larding needle

I want to make a larding needle, this is my first time making this item. I'm confused, what other technique can I use to make this other than sharpening a small pipe and running a rod through for a plunger.

you could try flattening and shaping a piece of stiff wire or a metal skewer into a needle with a split end or small loop to thread the fat through, might not be as precise, but well.. it'll do the job I guess

Nice that @blacktail96 already dropped the pic. But yeah anyway, I agree with @Ilove.tacos. Plus if you still want a tube, just weld a handle to a section of tubing and you can make a plunger from a rod that fits snugly )

A more simple alternative to the pipe-and-plunger method is to use a heavy gauge needle or even thin steel rod, flatten and shape one end into a pointed tip, then drill a tiny eye or slot near the tip to hold the fat strip. You can then bend the opposite end into a handle or attach a wooden grip. Its a straightforward, no-plunger approach that works well for basic larding tasks.. Hope this helps
