If you've spent time working with blades or metal, you know that getting the temper just right can really make a difference. Some people are all about watching the colors closely, while others swear by using a thermometer to nail that perfect heat. So, what’s your go-to method? Do you rely on your instincts, the thermometer, or a bit of both? What’s been the most effective for you?

I'm usually going by the colors. My granddad taught me that way, and it's just how I do things now.

I keep a thermometer around, but I mostly just go with what feels right. After all these years in the garage, I'm pretty good at just looking at the steel.

I kind of do a bit of both. I watched the colors when I was learning, but after messing up a few blades, I use a thermometer too. Now I go by the colors, but the thermometer keeps me from getting too confident when it matters
