Bad propane tank

I filled a propane tank for my gas forge but it leaks gas no matter what I do to tighten it down. Is there a way to salvage that full tank of propane by moving it to another tank or am I just screwed and lost 20 pounds, $17 in propane. ??

Please don't move propane from one tank to another on your own. It's risky and against the law in a lot of areas. Instead, if you have a tank that's leaking, bring it to a propane dealer. They'll move the propane to a new, safe tank. They might charge a small fee or even give you a bit of credit.

I agree with the comment above, it's really dangerous to move it to another tank. just go to a Blue Rhino/AmeriGas cage, swap the leaky one for a new full one. They handle the faulty tank, and you lose maybe a few dollars on the exchange cost

I strongly agree with what the others are saying.
Transferring the propane yourself is a highly dangerous process requiring specialized equipment and training, and attempting it is illegal.
Stop using that tank immediately and move it to a safe, well-ventilated outdoor spot away from any possible ignition source!
Take the leaking tank to a retail location that does propane tank exchanges.
Most will accept any brand and any condition tank for a good, safe, and full tank for the standard exchange fee.
This is the quickest, easiest, and safest way to recover your fuel and get back to forging!
