First tools you started with – what got you hammering?

While cleaning out an old shed, I discovered a rusty hammer and a bent pair of tongs and that’s how my blacksmithing adventure began! What tools did you use when you first started?

I was one of those visegrips, claw hammer and torch types.... sigh.....

Haha that’s the perfect starter pack! Just use what you have and make it work!

Yup, but it's learning the hard way before internet and no vast library of metalworking books.... I first used a cheap chinese bench vise to pound on and guess what happened..... lol....

Haha! I can imagine those bargain vises weren’t built for that kind of abuse!
