Forge insulation tips for cold weather

Spent a frosty morning trying to keep my forge nice and hot, but I noticed the fire was struggling more than usual. What insulation materials do you rely on when the temperature drops, and how much of a temperature difference have you actually measured?

Cold mornings can be rough when you're working at a forge.
I've had pretty good results using extra ceramic wool along with a strong refractory coat.
I noticed an improvement of about 200°F once everything warmed up.
It makes a noticeable difference when the wind is trying to steal your heat.

A combination of rigidized ceramic fiber and a solid hot-face lining has worked wonders. I haven’t done any precise measurements, but I can definitely tell that the forge heats up faster and maintains its temp better in freezing weather.

I'm battling the cold myself these days too. A double-layer ceramic blanket and blocking drafts have made a huge difference. I'm talking a couple of hundred degrees warmer compared to just using bare insulation. The biggest improvement came from keeping the wind away from the forge opening.
