Found some orphaned iron yesterday !!

Anytime I find usable, forgeable steel along the road, I call it orphaned iron. Yesterday I found another semi truck mud flap along the berm. On this one is 29 inches of 5/16's square stock. Most of these I find are 1/2 inch square. Just cut away the bolted on clamps and it is ready to go. I can turn this square stock into decorative door handles, pairs of dice, maybe some frederick split crosses, etc. Any of these items are sellable to the public. I never pass these up when I see them along the highway. This fits perfectly with my motto ..... Scavenge Everything !!

Sweet find. That mud flap steel is still in good shape, and the bolted brackets can be removed easily. Love the “orphaned iron” mindset, turning highway scraps into new forged parts, giving them a second chance.
