I used to help my uncle with his blacksmith project, now I want to try to make awesome swords and unique stuff, but I'm not sure about where to start with a forge!
I've got an anvil and hammer, so I'm set there. which forge should I get as a beginner, or should I build one?
the internet is overwhelming with videos I don't really understand.
what's the real cost for a basic gas forge (including gas/maintenance)?
do you guys think it's important to join blacksmithing class before starting?

bro, it's not that you have to, but it's great to take blacksmithing class to learn fundamentals.
also, building a gas forge is a project better suited for after you have some experience

I think blacksmith classes are a great idea for people who don't have someone to tutor them.
Find local classes, learn the basics first. Don’t forge alone if you don’t have to, find a group and get access to their wealth of knowledge.
Start small, start with knives. it's a little waste if you screw up a knife, but a big waste if you screw up a sword
