Hi
My daddy was a 17th/18th Century style blacksmith meaning everything he did was done the old way. Nothing automated or fabricated . I have one of his pieces outside. It’s 25 years old and hasn’t had any maintenance done in 20 years. I’m currently removing the Rust. My question is after wire brushing everything how clean does the iron need to be before I paint? Also, I purchased some Rustoleum Rust Remover Jelly. Does anyone have an opinion on that!?
Any tips appreciated.
Pics of the bottom that I haven’t removed rust from, top half where I’ve started and one with the dragon that needs to be reattached!
My daddy was an exceptional craftsman. I miss him every day.
